Official emails have been sent to affected users, confirming this unexpected change.<\/p><p>This decision expands a policy that has already been in place for new customers since early 2025. However, several users on Reddit have reported that it\u2019s already being implemented as early as August 13 for some accounts. The company has yet to clarify this discrepancy.<\/p><p>As an immediate consequence, affected customers must manually update their payment method in their <strong>Telus or Koodo<\/strong> account. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the discount, leading to an increase in their monthly bill<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63bfe78 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"63bfe78\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e503c4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2e503c4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The war on transaction fees<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8662fd8 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8662fd8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0dd051c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0dd051c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This policy shift is part of a long-standing conflict between <b>Telus<\/b> and credit card networks such as Visa and Mastercard. In 2022, the provider attempted to impose a 1.5% surcharge on customers paying by credit card, but was forced to back down after intervention from the CRTC. The targeted removal of discounts now serves as a legal alternative to offset those transaction fees.<\/p><p>As a direct result, affected customers must manually update their payment method in their <b>Telus<\/b> or <b>Koodo<\/b> account.
