Activation fees, change fees and cancellation costs can make people hesitate, even when a better deal is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CRTC has announced new consumer protection measures designed to remove some of those barriers. The goal is to make it easier for Canadians to activate, change or cancel internet and cellphone plans without being blocked by extra fees that make switching harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For consumers, this is a good time to review current services. A plan that made sense two years ago may now be too expensive, too slow or poorly matched to your household. Streaming, remote work, gaming, video calls and shared mobile data have changed what many people actually need from their plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before switching, compare three things: the real monthly price, the speed or data included, and the conditions attached to your current provider.
