For those who don\u2019t know, blocking a number on your mobile phone prevents them from getting in touch with you. Their phone calls will go straight to voicemail and their texts won\u2019t show up on your screen while they\u2019re blocked. Due to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planhub.ca\/blog\/en\/canada-spam-call-problem\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Canada\u2019s ongoing spam call problem<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, learning how to block numbers is more important than ever. Fortunately, you have the ability to block specific numbers or all unknown numbers regardless of which smartphone you have. This post will focus on blocking numbers on iOS, but make sure to check out our guide on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planhub.ca\/blog\/en\/blocking-numbers-on-android-how-to-block-unwelcome-phone-numbers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blocking numbers on Android<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if you aren\u2019t an iPhone user.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How to Block Numbers of Your Choice<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blocking a specific number only takes a few simple steps. If a specific number keeps contacting you, or someone from your contacts keeps bothering you, these are the steps you need to follow:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open the Phone <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> app<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll through your call history until you find the number you wish to block<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Press the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the right-hand side of their name<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll down and tap on \u201cBlock this caller\u201d (should be in red lettering) and that\u2019s all!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternatively, you could block anyone from your contacts list by navigating through the Contacts app. Again, it only takes a few short steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open the Contacts app<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll until you find the contact you wish to block and tap on their name<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll down and tap on \u201cBlock this caller\u201d (red lettering) to block them<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fortunately, blocking a number is not a final decision. If you block someone by accident or want to get in touch with them, you can unblock your blocked contacts whenever you wish. To do so, you just need to navigate through your settings for a few seconds:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open Settings <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap Phone &gt; Blocked Contacts<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap on \u201cEdit\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, you\u2019ll find a list of all your blocked contacts. After tapping on \u201cEdit\u201d, you can remove whichever numbers you please, and they\u2019ll be able to contact you again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Blocking Unknown Numbers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the previous processes were quite simple, they don\u2019t fully resolve the problem of receiving unwanted calls. If you only block numbers from your contacts, scammers, telemarketers and more can still call you without a problem. Fortunately, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/ca\/iphone\/?afid=p238%7Cs4d9G29Ae-dc_mtid_20925xpb40345_pcrid_547831629055_pgrid_126629580905_&amp;cid=wwa-ca-kwgo-iphone-slid--Brand-iPhone-Avail-\" rel=\"nofollow\">all iOS devices<\/a> are capable of blocking unknown numbers. However, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you should know that you can still receive calls from numbers that aren\u2019t found in your contacts. Instead, all numbers that declare themselves private or cannot be properly identified will be filtered out. This should prevent several suspicious callers from getting in touch with you. On the other hand, \u201cSilence Junk Callers\u201d will block calls from any number which your carrier considers as potential spam. If possible, turning on both of these settings should reduce the amount of spam calls you receive.
