Some Bell mobile customers have started receiving notices about a price increase coming in February 2026. The change is straightforward. Their monthly plan will go up by 6 dollars.

The timing is not random. Just weeks earlier, Telus announced a similar adjustment, with certain plans increasing by 7 dollars per month. Taken together, these moves suggest a broader pattern among major Canadian carriers at the start of the year.

These increases are not always highlighted in big announcements. In many cases, they appear quietly in billing messages or account notices. The explanation often points to the same logic. After heavy promotions during periods like Black Friday, carriers move to readjust pricing once the new year begins. Customers affected by the change receive a 30-day notice, as required for month-to-month plans in Canada.

Customers can still push back

A higher bill does not mean there is nothing to be done. Some customers who contacted Bell after receiving the notice report being transferred to retention teams, where different offers are available.

In one case, a subscriber was offered a 40-dollar plan with 150 GB of data usable in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. These types of plans are rarely advertised and usually only appear when cancellation is on the table.

A familiar scenario for Canadian mobile users

Price increases that happen almost simultaneously across competing carriers are nothing new in the Canadian telecom market. While each company acts independently, the end result is often the same for consumers.

For customers, the message is simple. Read your notifications carefully and do not hesitate to call customer service. In many cases, a conversation is enough to reduce the impact of a price increase or even avoid it altogether.
