Google has just rolled out its highly anticipated quarterly update, the March 2026 Pixel Feature Drop, along with a host of new features for the broader Android ecosystem.

For Canadian users, the headline news is the official arrival of Satellite SOS connectivity in the country—a crucial safety feature for those venturing off the beaten path.

Here is a rundown of the new features landing on your Pixel and Android devices.

Security: Canada Finally Connected

Previously reserved for the US, the Satellite SOS feature (available on compatible Pixels, such as the 9 series and later) is finally expanding to Canada. This allows users to contact emergency services even without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, a major step forward for safety in remote areas.

Smarter Shopping with “Circle to Search”

The popular Circle to Search tool gets even more powerful with two major additions:

  • Multi-Object Recognition: You can now identify multiple items in an image simultaneously without having to run separate searches.
  • “Try It On”: A new feature allows you to visualize clothes or accessories directly on yourself (or a model) via augmented reality for eligible products.

Your Pixel Gets More Proactive

Google continues to integrate its Gemini AI deeper into the daily experience:

  • Task Automation: Gemini can now handle multi-step tasks inside your apps (in beta), simplifying complex actions.
  • Magic Cue: In your chats, the AI can proactively suggest relevant restaurants or meeting spots.
  • Now Playing: The music recognition feature becomes a standalone app with a complete history of your musical discoveries.

Updates for Pixel Watch

Your watch isn’t left out, with additions focused on security and convenience:

  • Proximity Lock: Your Pixel Watch can automatically lock your phone if you move too far away, protecting your data if left behind.
  • Standalone Seismic Alerts: The watch can now receive earthquake alerts independently of the phone.

When Will You Get It?

The rollout has begun and should reach all compatible Pixel devices (phones and watches) over the coming weeks. Keep an eye on your system update notifications!
