As students get ready to head back to school, Freedom Mobile has launched a set of phone plans made to fit their connected lifestyle. The provider hasn’t changed everything, but it’s offering more data and some useful travel features. One plan, at $49/month, could really catch students’ attention.

Different price levels

There are five plans to choose from. The $29 plan (5GB) is best for light users, while the $49 plan looks like a great fit for students: it includes 100GB of data in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, plus 15GB to use in 120 other countries. It’s a good deal for those on a budget.

For those who use more data, Freedom has other options:

  • $59/month: 150GB in Canada, 25GB abroad, no in-store activation fee, and 5GB for connected devices.

  • $69/month: 200GB in North America and 30GB for international use.

  • $79/month: The biggest plan with 250GB in North America and 35GB while roaming, plus data for tablets and smartwatches.

The $39 plan still stands out

In the middle of all this, the $39/month plan (60GB + 5GB for travel) hasn’t changed. It shows that most users, including students, don’t always need huge amounts of data.

Freedom Mobile is clear about its goal: these new plans are made for students who travel or stream a lot on their phones. For everyone else, the $39 plan is still a smart and simple choice. As the school year begins, it’s clear that flexible mobile plans are here to stay.
