Google has just rolled out its latest September Pixel Drop, and this time Pixel smartphone owners have plenty to be excited about. On the menu: AI-powered writing assistance, long-awaited audio sharing options that bring Android up to speed, and a few fun surprises on the emoji front.
Gboard gets smarter
The most notable improvement comes to Gboard, Google’s keyboard, which is now getting much smarter. The app integrates new AI-powered features to refine your writing. With just a few taps, you can adjust the tone of your messages, making them more formal, expressive or concise, or even run a full spelling and grammar check.
The good news for privacy: all processing happens directly on your device, with no data sent to the cloud.
Audio sharing finally arrives
At last, Android is catching up on a feature that Apple has offered for years: the ability to connect two Bluetooth headsets to the same device. Two people can now listen to the same song or watch a video together without fighting over earbuds.
But Google is going a step further with something Apple still doesn’t have: a clever new “broadcast” feature. You can share your audio through a QR code that others scan to join the listening session. The idea turns any casual hangout into an improvised “silent disco.”
Quick Share and small updates
On the file-sharing front, Quick Share becomes simpler with a redesigned interface and a real-time progress bar. Emoji Kitchen also gets an upgrade with a larger library and personalized suggestions.
A little nostalgic bonus: Androidify makes a comeback in AI form, allowing you to create an Android avatar from a selfie.
When will this update be available?
This update applies to all Pixel devices from the Pixel 6 up to the latest Pixel 10. The rollout will take place over a week, depending on the carrier and model. It’s a cautious approach designed to catch any potential issues.
