Apple is preparing for change. After years of following the same fall release ritual, the company may be breaking its routine with the iPhone 18. According to several consistent reports, Apple is considering a two-phase launch and a redesigned lineup. The goal: to give itself more breathing room, spark innovation, and surprise the world once again.

A rollout spread over several months

Is the big September show coming to an end? Not quite, but Apple seems to be moving away from it. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the brand’s high-end models, are expected to launch in fall 2026, as usual. However, the standard model could be delayed until early 2027, a first for the company.

Behind this decision lies a simple idea: stop cramming all announcements into just a few weeks. Apple wants to spread out its launches to better manage production, ease the pressure on its teams, and create several “highlight moments” throughout the year.

A cleaner, more refined design

Without a major visual overhaul, the iPhone 18 is expected to refine the approach introduced with the 17. The overall shape should remain similar, but more uniform: a smooth glass back, thinner bezels, and, according to persistent rumors, the possible removal of the Dynamic Island, replaced by a Face ID sensor hidden beneath the screen.

Apple would thus continue its long-standing obsession: removing anything that breaks the visual flow. The result would be an iPhone that feels more subtle, more minimalist, and more elegant.

Power will still be part of the equation

Inside, the new A20 chip would mark a major step forward. Built using a 2-nanometer process, it promises better performance while consuming less power. It’s a logical but necessary evolution to prepare for the future AI features Apple plans to bring to iOS. Battery life, heat management, and speed all suggest that the iPhone 18 generation will focus on stability and efficiency.

Photography remains at the heart of the game

When it comes to photography, Apple no longer aims to impress with technical specs but to enhance the overall experience. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature a 48 MP sensor with a variable aperture that adapts brightness to the scene.

On the front, a new 24 MP module would deliver more natural portraits and better color balance. Less editing and more realism, as Apple continues to stay true to its philosophy of authentic imaging.

The iPhone Fold, Apple’s big gamble

The real innovation could come from a long-rumored but never confirmed model — the foldable iPhone. Apple has reportedly been testing flexible-screen prototypes for several years. The project now seems advanced enough to consider a 2026 release, alongside the Pro models.

The idea is simple: to offer a hybrid device between a smartphone and a tablet, designed for users who want to do everything on one device. Still, Apple is approaching it carefully. This kind of design brings many technical challenges, and the company would rather take its time than risk a flawed debut.
