According to Bloomberg and multiple analysts, Apple is preparing its first foldable iPhone for fall 2026. Dubbed the most significant overhaul in iPhone history, the device has not been officially announced, but the picture is detailed.

A book-style design, crease-free, and thinner than an iPhone Air

The iPhone Fold would feature a book-style design with a 5.5-inch outer screen and a 7.76-inch inner OLED display when unfolded, close to iPad mini size. Thickness: 4.5mm unfolded, 9 to 9.5mm folded. Apple reportedly pursued a near-invisible crease regardless of cost, per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

A20 chip, Touch ID, and dual 48MP cameras

The A20 chip on 2nm process would power the device, same as the iPhone 18 Pro. Face ID would be replaced by a side Touch ID button due to space constraints. Camera: two 48MP rear sensors, no telephoto. Storage: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

September 2026 launch, possible delay to December

Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman both point to fall 2026, announced in September with shipments possibly starting in December. Samsung Display starts OLED mass production in May 2026. Three to five million units expected in 2026, over 20 million in 2027.

An estimated $2,750 to $3,450 CAD: who is it actually for?

Leaked pricing sits between $2,000 and $2,500 USD, roughly $2,750 to $3,450 CAD. It would be Apple‘s most expensive iPhone ever. The device targets creative professionals and heavy media users seeking a phone-tablet hybrid. For those planning the purchase, comparing unlimited data plans on PlanHub.ca is a natural next step.
