The next software update from Samsung, One UI 8.5, is set to significantly improve network connection management on compatible smartphones. According to SammyGuru, this minor but notable update will include several smart features to automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile networks.
AI boosting your internet connection
Two flagship features are expected to come with One UI 8.5:
- Intelligent Link Assessment: The system analyzes Wi-Fi connection quality to activate mobile data when necessary.
- Intelligent Network Switch: Using connection history, the AI anticipates interruptions (e.g., in an elevator) and switches to the most stable network.
A “Real-Time Data Priority” mode will focus bandwidth on sensitive activities such as video calls or gaming, while relegating secondary tasks (like app updates) to the background. Although the difference from the current One UI version may seem subtle, the goal is clear: to avoid annoying latency.
With deployment expected in early 2026, likely alongside the Galaxy S26, Samsung aims to solve one of the daily frustrations of mobile users. The question remains whether execution will live up to the promise.
