As the latest iPhones hit the market, they have already faced the most rigorous durability tests from experts. And one thing is clear: they withstand shocks remarkably well, especially the iPhone Air with its Ceramic Shield 2 display, advertised as scratch-resistant.

The renowned channel JerryRigEverything put the iPhone Air through its iconic bend test. The result is impressive: the device could not be bent by hand. It took no less than 215 pounds of pressure (about 97 kg) applied with a hydraulic press to defeat the smartphone. Even under these extreme conditions, the screen remained fully functional.

Thermal resistance is equally surprising: all models withstood 30 seconds of direct flame from a lighter without damage. As for scratches, the screens proved more resistant than the glass backs of the devices.

iPhone Air and iPhone 17: Internals Completely Reengineered

Early analyses of the internal components reveal a particularly dense architecture in the iPhone Air. While the layout may seem complex at first glance, the relatively low number of parts actually makes it more repairable than it appears.

As for the iPhone 17 Pro, a teardown conducted by iPhone Repair Guru shows a different approach. The Canadian YouTuber notes slightly lower repairability compared to previous generations due to the higher number of screws. However, the new modular rear glass panel would make repairs easier than on older models.

Overall, this new generation of iPhones demonstrates significant improvements in durability. Concerns about the fragility of the iPhone Air seem largely unfounded in light of the tests conducted. For those who want to explore the devices in more detail, the full tests remain available online.
