According to exclusive information from Mystic Leaks, a source well-known for its previous revelations about Google products, the company is reportedly preparing an early launch of its mid-range smartphone. The Pixel 10a, traditionally expected in the spring, could this time make its debut on the market as early as the holiday season.
An unprecedented timing strategy
This accelerated timeline would mark a real shift in direction for Google. For the first time, the Pixel lineup’s “a” model would be released in the same year as its high-end siblings. This decision comes as the company has already broken with tradition by launching the Pixel 10 last August, moving away from the usual October window typically chosen to counter the new iPhones.
Mixed specifications
Although the rumored release date seems ambitious, the Pixel 10a’s technical sheet might leave some users disappointed. Instead of featuring the new Tensor G5 chip, the device is expected to rely on an improved version of the Tensor G4. The screen could reach a brightness of 2000 nits, but limited RAM may lead to the removal of certain AI-based features.
In terms of design, five colors are reportedly planned: the classic black and navy blue, along with light blue, red and green, clearly targeting a younger and more dynamic audience.
By bringing the launch forward, Google would be adopting an offensive strategy in the budget smartphone market. The company would be building on the momentum of the Pixel 10’s successful debut last August to strengthen its presence ahead of the holiday season.
It remains to be seen if this approach will succeed, especially with growing competition from Chinese manufacturers and the imminent arrival of the new iPhones. The truth should become clear in the coming weeks if the leaks are confirmed.
