With major Canadian providers sunsetting 3G networks by the end of 2025, OnePlus is proactively reassuring its customers. In a clear statement issued today, the company confirmed that recent smartphone models now fully support Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) technology through essential software updates, ensuring uninterrupted call service as 3G phases out.

We wanted to clarify this for our valued Canadian users,” expressed the OnePlus team, addressing recent concerns about device compatibility. Affected models, including the OnePlus 13, 12R, Open foldable, and Nord N30, have all received subtle but critical software enhancements in recent weeks.

Seamless transition, zero effort

The best part? Once the update installs, your phone handles everything automatically. “Your device adapts on its own,” the notice emphasizes. No settings adjustments are needed, though curious users can verify the “IMS Registration: Enabled” status under SIM card settings. A quick glance for the “VoLTE” icon near your signal bars also confirms activation.

This is particularly timely for Rogers subscribers: as the carrier’s 3G network shuts down July 31, these OnePlus devices will maintain crystal-clear voice calls via 4G/5G infrastructure.

Embracing inevitable progress

While this network evolution frees up spectrum for faster mobile data, it raises valid concerns for older devices. By proactively enabling VoLTE support, OnePlus spares its customers last-minute headaches. “We’re here if you have questions,” the brand added, inviting open dialogue in its community forums.

One certainty remains: for millions of Canadians, 3G voice calls are becoming history.
