And your irresistible urge to shop for a new high tech smartphone can hold off a bit more? Good news for you then, because for the month of May, Fido, Koodo and Virgin have a large number of promotions on Bring Your Own Device plans!
Fierce competition between Fido, Koodo and Virgin for BYOD plans
Koodo, Fido and Virgin released this month a series of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) plans. Koodo started the first, introducing their new set of BYOD plans early in the month. A rebranding had been made with the launch of the CHOOSE HAPPY campaign. There was a redesign of Koodo’s website along with all the plans showed on it. Biggest change was the new version of their TAB system (system where the prices for the plans and the device are clearly separated).
The CHOOSE HAPPY campaign is Telus’ latest effort to make a push and try acquire more clients. Their latest strategy translates itself with more aggressive offers and more than a few price drops.
The result?
Bell and Rogers are reacting by matching Koodo’s offer with new plans released for their sub-brands Virgins and Fido. And in most cases, their offers are identical. Same price, same amount of data, same number of voice minutes.
New promos and price drops this week from Fido, Koodo and Virgin
The rivalries continue this week, with new promos launched by the 3 providers. But they’re for a limited time only – Most of these offers end May 31rst or June first.
So, with all these new promotions, is it worth it to throw yourself now on these new plans, before they end? Which are the great deals, and which are the ones to avoid?

Conclusion
In Ontario, Alberta and British-Columbia
Wind’s cellphone plans beat all promotions made by Fido, Koodo and Virgin. So if you don’t have any problem with Wind, it’d be best to go with them and avoid offers from the 3 others.
In Quebec
No need to rush on your decision. There’s only one promotion in Quebec, Koodo’s 3 GB plan, priced at 65$. Based on price only, it could look like the best deal. However, for only 2$ extra, Videotron’s offer allows you to get extra 1 GB, and for 4$ more, Fido’s offer allow you to jump to a 5 GB plan.
In Saskatchewan and Manitoba
Virgin’s website indicate that the promotions are for a limited time only. It’s not the case on Koodo’s website however. So again, no need to rush, as Koodo’s deals are apparently here to stay.
In the Atlantic provinces
Koodo, Fido and Virgin offer pretty good deals in for the Atlantic Provinces. Their offers clearly beat Eastlink’s. So, for everyone in Nova-Scotia, New-Brunswick, Prince-Edouard-Island and Newfoundland, the decision to buy a new BYOD plan has to be taken before June 1rst.
White rock bc. No mention of Mobilicity. No damn good? Or what?
