(Translation of an original PlanHub article)

Samsung has just unveiled its new Galaxy A range, and we can say that these new phones go further than a simple evolution. For a long time, Samsung’s A phones have been confined to an anodyne and plain style, but their bland dress has never been their strong point. However, this time seems to be over, the new A range benefits from a design that takes the main lines of the Galaxy S23.

The first impression when discovering this new A series is undeniably a move upmarket. Faced with competition that tends to cut prices below $500, starting with the design, Samsung goes against the grain and offers an object that seems worth more than its price. The previous Galaxy A’s have always been successful and this new dress could help to maintain it.

The photo sensors have been particularly worked on. Each phone in the A category always has two other sensors in addition to the main one, for ultra wide-angle and macro photography, while the lenses have been perfectly integrated into the rear panel, which no longer has a protrusion. The autonomy is not left out since all the Galaxy A are equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, which is simply excellent!

Galaxy A54 5G

A54 5G, the S23 “light”

The Galaxy A54 is intended to be a “light” alternative to the Galaxy S23. It is the only phone powered by the Exynos 1380 designed by Samsung and equipped with 8GB of memory. Its power should ensure the same performance as a Galaxy S21. The screen is a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel clocked at 120 Hz, which should offer ultra-smooth animations. Its cameras include a 50-megapixel sensor and a 32-megapixel sensor on the front, while its IP67-certified chassis, so it is fully protected against dust and will be able to withstand immersion in water for less than 30 minutes at a depth of less than one meter.

A35 5G, even better than expected

The A35 5G is an excellent surprise since it offers an excellent compromise on performance while offering features that can seduce. Inside, the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G processor is found in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro or the Realmi 10+ Pro 5G, so it should offer excellent performance like these phones. The 6.6-inch AMOLED screen is clocked at 90Hz and has a fingerprint sensor placed directly under it. Like the A54, it is certified IP 67 to resist dust and water. Finally, its 48 MP photo sensor is supported by two other sensors, while the front camera is 13 megapixels, the same as found on the A14.

Two A14 models, the A14 4G and A14 5G

No Snapdragon or Exynos, the A 14 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor that is also found in the Xiaomi Redmi 10 Prime Plus or the Oppo Reno 5. Its 6.6-inch 90Hz LCD screen should ensure good brightness and fluidity when manipulating the menus, helped by the 6GB of RAM of the processor. On the other hand, you’ll have to take care of it since there is no protection against water and dust. Finally, it is equipped with a fingerprint reader placed on the edge. Be careful though, there are differences between the A14 5G and A14 4G. If the 5G version is available with 64 and 128 GB of storage, the 4G version is only available in 64 GB, while its screen is clocked at 60 Hz against 90 Hz for the A14 5G.

Galaxy A, a seamless range ready to seduce?

The new Galaxy A’s are really impressive and lead the sales in their respective ranges. Only the Galaxy A14 4G seems to us to be a bit behind because its price is too close to the Galaxy A14 5G which offers more for a few dozen dollars more. Of course, we regret the price increase that is also hitting them like many electronic products nowadays. Otherwise, these phones offer a high-end flavour with their updated dress, their features, and their sensors perfectly integrated into the back.

Unfortunately, the price is going up

For now, we only have the European prices, but we will update you as soon as Samsung sends us the Canadian prices. Be careful though, their price should be higher here, even if the European prices include taxes.

Galaxy A54 5G: 549 euros or $799.76

Galaxy A34 5G: 399 euros or $581.25

Galaxy A14 5G: 249 euros or $362.73

Galaxy A14 4G: 219 euros or $319.03.
