Galaxy Grand Prime: Full Specifications

Samsung positioned the Galaxy Grand Prime as an accessible 5 inch smartphone focused on everyday essentials rather than high end hardware. Its compact plastic body measures 144.8 x 72.1 x 8.6 mm and weighs about 156 g, which keeps it easy to handle while still leaving room for a removable 2600 mAh battery. The display uses a 540 x 960 qHD panel, a modest resolution that suited basic web browsing, messaging and video playback on a phone of this class. Performance is built around a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 410 processor with 8 GB of internal storage, microSD expansion up to 128 GB, and either 1 GB or 1.5 GB of RAM depending on the version. Camera hardware includes an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, plus a 5 MP front camera that Samsung highlighted for wide angle selfies. The rear camera can record Full HD video at 30 fps on supported variants. Connectivity covers LTE on carrier specific models, Wi Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Micro USB and, on some versions, NFC. Altogether, the Galaxy Grand Prime reflects Samsung’s budget approach from the period, with a straightforward design and a practical feature set for basic smartphone use.

Pros

  • Price: A new Grand Prime shouldn't cost you much, if you can find one.
  • Headphone jack: The Galaxy Grand Prime includes a headphone jack, as well as three pushable buttons on the bottom of the device.

Cons

  • Resolution: The low resolution of the Grand Prime makes videos and games appear fuzzy.
  • Time: Sadly, no device is safe from time passing, and this device has not aged well. There's a number of devices you could buy that completely outperform the Grand Prime in every regard.
