iPhone 8: Full Specifications

Compact by current standards, the iPhone 8 pairs a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with Apple’s familiar glass-and-aluminum build, giving it a solid feel without much bulk. The screen delivers 1334 x 750 resolution at 326 ppi and supports True Tone, wide colour and 3D Touch, while the body adds IP67 water and dust resistance. Inside, the A11 Bionic chip and 2 GB of RAM keep everyday apps, messaging, streaming and casual gaming moving smoothly, with storage options of 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB. The rear 12 MP camera includes optical image stabilization, an f/1.8 lens and 4K video recording at up to 60 fps, and the 7 MP front camera handles selfies and FaceTime calls. Battery life is rated similarly to the iPhone 7, with support for Qi wireless charging and fast charging when paired with a higher-wattage adapter. The phone also supports LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC for Apple Pay and a nano-SIM. At 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm and 148 g, it remains one of the more manageable iPhones to carry and use.

Pros

  • Removed features: The iPhone 8 is the last model with a home button and Touch ID, which makes it highly desirable for fans that did not enjoy the new design introduced with the iPhone X.

Cons

  • Specs: Practically every spec (memory, storage, display, camera) has not aged particularly well, as other iPhones or smartphones on the market are years ahead of this technology.
  • No headphone jack: Despite the inclusion of the home button, this model has no headphone jack, and requires a port or Bluetooth headphones if you want to enjoy audio in private.
