Compact and cleanly styled, the Nexus 5X is built around a 5.2 inch Full HD LCD that keeps the phone easy to handle while still offering sharp 423 ppi detail. Google paired that screen with a Snapdragon 808 processor, 2 GB of RAM and either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage, creating a straightforward Android handset that originally shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The body uses a polycarbonate housing, measures 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm and weighs 136 g, so it stays noticeably light in the hand. Photography centres on a 12.3 MP rear camera with 1.55 µm pixels, an f/2.0 lens, IR laser assisted autofocus and 4K video recording at 30 fps, while the 5 MP front camera also uses an f/2.0 aperture. A rear fingerprint sensor, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, dual band Wi Fi ac with 2x2 MIMO, GPS and GLONASS round out the core features. The 2700 mAh battery is non removable and charges over USB C, with Google listing 15 W fast charging support. A 3.5 mm headphone jack and single nano SIM slot keep the hardware practical and familiar.

Pros

  • Size: The 5X's size is a huge plus. As smartphones have only gotten larger and larger, the 5X prioritizes an ergonomic feel that fits perfectly in one hand.
  • Fingerprint scanner: Another great trend that has been slowly disappearing. If you miss the late 2010s era of smartphones, the Nexus 5X offers all kind of great features that many companies no longer offer.

Cons

  • Storage: 16GB of internal storage is very small by today's standards, and doesn't feel like enough for the average user's apps and photos.
  • Specs: The 5X's main problem is that it is quite outdated. It still performs adequately, but not nearly as well as newer Android devices.
