The Galaxy A50 sits in Samsung’s mid-range lineup with a design that aimed to bring several premium touches into a more accessible format. It uses a slim body measuring 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7 mm and weighs about 166 g, with curved lines and Samsung’s glossy Glasstic finish helping it feel lighter and more modern than many budget models from the same period. Up front, the 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display delivers a sharp 2340 x 1080 resolution, giving the phone one of its standout strengths for streaming, photos, and everyday browsing. Performance comes from Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 9610 platform, paired with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM depending on version, along with 64 GB or 128 GB of storage and microSD expansion up to 512 GB. Its camera setup combines a 25 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra wide camera, and a 5 MP depth sensor, while the front camera is also 25 MP for higher-resolution selfies. The 4,000 mAh battery supports 15 W fast charging, and the phone also includes an in-display fingerprint sensor, face recognition, USB-C, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Some versions were also offered with dual SIM support.

Pros

  • Price: The A50 only costs around $50 more than the A20. At the end of the day, it should only run you back about $400, which is very impressive considering the device's various improvements.
  • Headphone jack and fingerprint scanner: The A50 includes an in-screen fingerprint scanner, as well as a headphone jack.

Cons

  • Video quality: 1080p is the highest video resolution the A50 can stream, which may be a bummer if you're looking for a device with 4K functionality.
  • Specs: While the A50 is a great deal, users still reported similar problems as the A20. Its performance can sometimes suffer, lag, or buffer. If you're someone that needs constant high-speed performance from their smartphone, perhaps the A50 isn't right for you.
