Apple’s iPhone 6s Plus is a large-format iPhone built around a 5.5-inch Retina HD display, pairing a familiar aluminum body with the home button, Touch ID, a Lightning port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The screen uses IPS LCD technology, reaches 1920 x 1080 resolution at 401 ppi, and adds 3D Touch for pressure-sensitive shortcuts and previews. Inside, the A9 chip with the M9 motion coprocessor and 2 GB of RAM delivers the core performance of the 6s family, while storage options range from 16 GB to 128 GB. Photography was a major step forward for this generation, with a 12 MP rear camera, optical image stabilization on the Plus model, Live Photos, and video capture up to 4K at 30 fps. The 5 MP front camera supports Retina Flash for brighter selfies. Apple lists up to 24 hours of 3G talk time, up to 14 hours of HD video playback and up to 80 hours of audio playback from its built-in rechargeable battery. Connectivity includes nano-SIM support, LTE, 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and VoLTE on supported carriers. At 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm and 192 g, it is clearly the larger, heavier expression of the iPhone 6s design.

  • The last headphone jack: The 6s Plus may be a great choice if you miss some older iPhone features like the home button and the headphone jack. The 6s Plus is actually the latest iPhone model that includes a headphone jack, as all models since the iPhone 7 have been released without one. The 6s Plus is a solid choice if you miss this features, but still want decent specs and storage.

Cons

  • Performance: Much like other phones from this era, the iPhone 6s Plus has not aged that well. Its memory, camera and display all pale in comparison to the newer iPhones.
  • Size: The 6s plus is a large phone, which may turn off potential customers that are craving older iPhone features like headphone jack and Touch ID.
