LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen: Full Specifications

The LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen stands out for its removable second display, an accessory that gives the phone a different character from a standard slab design. On its own, the handset is a slim 6.4-inch OLED model with a Full HD+ 2340 x 1080 screen, a 19.5:9 format and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Attached to the Dual Screen case, it adds another 6.4-inch OLED panel and a 360-degree hinge that supports laptop-style, tent and stand positions, making the device especially distinctive for split-screen work, messaging, viewing and compatible gaming features. Power comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, plus microSD expansion up to 2 TB. The camera setup includes a 12 MP standard rear camera with OIS and Dual PDAF, a 13 MP ultra wide camera, and a 32 MP front camera. LG also equipped it with stereo speakers, a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, wireless charging and a 4,000 mAh battery, so even beyond the dual-screen concept it remains a well-rounded premium Android phone.

  • Two screens: If you're someone who likes to separate work from play, you may be interested in the G8X ThinQ Dual Screen model. The phone folds open to display two screens, allowing you to use one or both at your disposal.
  • Price: This phone is far cheaper than the Galaxy Fold, and may be a great starting point if you're a multitasker interested in a dual screen smartphone

Cons

  • Bulkiness: One of the biggest problems with dual screen devices is the bulkiness when folded together. It will likely feel much larger and heavier in your pocket than your previous devices.
  • Two separate screens: Unlike the Galaxy fold, the two screens do not merge into one larger "tablet". Instead, they act as two distinct bodies with a huge line going down the middle. This could be beneficial if you want to separate work and play, but it's an aesthetic nightmare if you're just trying to watch a video or movie.
