Alcatel 1: Full Specifications

Compact and straightforward, the Alcatel 1 was built as an entry-level Android phone that keeps the basics simple without feeling oversized in the hand. Its 5-inch FullView display uses an 18:9 format and a 960 x 480 resolution, giving the phone a taller shape while staying light at 134 g and easy to manage with one hand. The brushed metallic-look finish adds a little style to a modest plastic body, and the overall footprint remains small at 137.6 x 65.7 x 9.8 mm. Inside, it runs on a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor with Android Oreo Go edition, paired with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, plus microSD expansion up to 32 GB for extra room. The camera setup is basic but functional, with a 5 MP rear camera, LED flash and 1080p video capture, along with a 2 MP front camera that supports 720p video. A 2000 mAh battery powers the device, while everyday essentials such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, micro-USB, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and FM radio round out a phone designed for calling, messaging, light apps and simple social sharing.

Pros

  • Price: The Alcatel 1 is far cheaper than most smartphone devices. Its price is a huge selling point, considering it still runs Android OS and offers basic smartphone services.
  • Simplicity: Without all the bells and whistles of most other smartphones, the Alcatel 1's simplicity is highly attractive for users switching over from flip phones to smartphones.

Cons

  • Specs: If you want a powerful phone, the Alcatel 1 is not for you. It is severely outshined by most other devices on the market.
  • Accessibility: Alcatel's products are not as easy to obtain in Canada as other premium brands.
