they promised me a onsite installation, next day no we can't from installers. Citing pandemic lockdown No lockdown in montreal april 24th 2021 that o know of. I strongly suspect from the half dozen i spoke to is that the call center is in India

Network stability is top notch so that #1. Onboarding was also fairly simple as they sent the modem and instructions well in advance. The Videotron tech did the rest. Billing is transparent and you pay what you're supposed to.

The 2 major flaws are:
1) Very limited user portal.
2) Support channels. Wait times to the support is always long.

Also, their TV service works well with a few comments:
1) Inability to hide some channels. Having 14 different serves no purpose as they all have the same shows.
2) Very basic app with a semi-working tv schedule and the inability to check shows in schedule that will air in more than 2hrs.

Gemstelecom is the worst carrier I have used. I signed up for 75/10 cable. Between 7pm-11pm every night, speeds slowed down to only 5Mbps. That is a drop of over 90%. Gemstelecom then blamed me, then Rogers. But they never resolved the problem. Their staff does not understand the technology and keep suggesting false fixes that waste time. The owner hides behind his staff so you have no one with authority to talk to. The reps are kept on a tight leash and cannot satisfy the customer even if they wanted to because their hands are tied by the management. They are only interested in charging you for a service that they fail to provide. They also charge you a cancellation fee of $50 even after one month of crappy service. No one in service will call you back when promised. Basically the whole company is badly run and they are not interested in hearing how to fix their issues - only taking your money and blaming everyone else for the lack of speed. BTW the day I switched to another Rogers cable provider, my speed instantly jumped to 100% ALL the time with no slow down at night. In conclusion, DO NOT use Gemstelecom for your internet services. They charge low prices to con you into signing up and then you just have problems ALL the time with no one capable of resolving issues. Stay far away from this company. The worst experience. They will never credit back any money and never admit they are wrong.

Stable speed on a V-cable plan and no (unplanned) outage in months. Customer portal has very limited features, call wait times are at times very long and their TV app is poorly defined.

Red flags: All the promises and guarantees before signing the contract, penalty for early cancellation is a scam. No sense of what customer service and technical support is all about. The company is just after your hard earned money.

I ordered internet from this company. Was charged for first month and delivery of equipment immediately. I was provided a install date of 9th of Oct between 5pm-8pm. Tried to get it earlier, no availability. The 9th comes, and I called them to verify date/time. Was assured of details. On the 9th, at 7:30pm I called to inquire about install. Was told that it was still going to take place, to give the tech until 8:30, if it wasn't done to call back. I called back at 8:30pm, was told it had been installed, to give it 3-4 hours to start working. This should not take 3-4 hrs to start working!! Checked all equipment, everything is working fine. So not equipment. 8am on the 10th still no internet!! Had to wait until 10am for them to open. Called at 10am, was put through all the testing of the equipment with the rep. Still no internet!! Advised the rep, that I was not impressed with their company at all!! The rep advised me that there are no installs on Saturdays. I asked to speak to a supervisor, the rep did not want to transfer me. Said there was nothing more they could do. I again insisted on speaking to a supervisor. I was placed on hold for 10 mins. A man comes on the phone, I asked if he was a supervisor, and he said yes. I advised him of the entire situation, and that if I didn't have internet service by 4pm, which is the time they were closing that day, I would be cancelling my service with them immediately!! I never got service that day!! I sent an email, advising I was cancelling my service with them immediately. Monday the 12th, I rec'd a call from Rogers, they were scheduled to do a third part install, for Gemstelecom. OMG!! Are you serious?? I advised him that I had cancelled my service with them on Saturday. I called Gemstelecom, and explained my situation with the rep. Explained that I had spoken to a supervisor on Saturday, he advised me that that was not possible, NO SUPERVISOR'S WORK ON SATURDAYS. Now I'm even more upset, that they lied to me again!! First about the installation, now, that I had not really spoken to a supervisor or Saturday!!! I argued that I shouldn't have to pay to return their equipment to them, since I paid to have it shipped to me, and never had service!! They wouldn't budge on this at all!! I was told by the supervisor, on this call, that I would receive my refund, after I was invoiced and equipment had been returned. I argued that there shouldn't be an invoice, because I never had service!!! He went on to say that as soon as they received the equipment back, that I would receive a refund to same form of payment. I then requested their Head Office phone number, so that I could voice my disappointment with their company, how they lied to me, and their overall service!!! He provided me with a phone number. After the call ended, I dialed the number provided to me, I was greeted by a rep, who stated, yes I just spoke with you, and you spoke with the supervisor. I was confused, so I asked him, why I had reached the same office, I had requested the Head Office number? He went on to explain to me, they are Head Office! I told him I was wanting to talk to someone above the supervisor, he tried telling me that there is no one over the supervisor, I disagreed with him, I mean come on, everyone has a manager or boss!!!! Not according to them!! What a circus!!! So today I contacted them, by email regarding the equipment return. They emailed me back stating they had indeed received the equipment back, and as soon as my invoice was done, I would receive my refund, less the balance, in approx. 2-3 weeks. What is up with this company?? Does no one read notes in an account?? I paid to ship it back to them, never had service, was lied to repeatedly, and told they are Head Office, Tech support, billing, and (lack of)Customer service(I'm using this term lightly btw!) all rolled into one!!!! I would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE!!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE PLEASE!!!

Hello,
Not sure who gave the company a good score, Im personally waited for ~15days to get the internet working, and finally gave up and switch to another provider. Took them 1week to send a new modem, when the new modem arrived it also didnt work, 20calls to support didnt help either. Pay 10$ more and get the internet in less than 24h.

Uploads speeds have been cut in half of that promised even with a new installation made by the technician and new CAT8 cables. Only get 75% of the download speed indicated almost all the time. We keep getting hung up on when we call customer service and it is very difficult to talk to someone. It's a scam after all!

I have been a subscriber since May 2014. Very satisfied with the service. I had a modem problem that was replaced quickly. I have a 2 year contract at $ 45 / month for 15 Mbps ill. with phone with 2 months free. What more could you ask for.

Bad service, many cuts put on the back of Cogeco. I called 3-4 times, only one tech told me that it could be the modem the problem but that he could not do anything on the weekend that I had to call the week if I still had problems. An average wait of 30 minutes on the phone dissuaded me from calling again. I called to cancel when we missed the Internet for 8 hours a day. I was told that I would pay the $ 50 fee because I didn't mean often enough that I had line problems. I should have received a confirmation email, unfortunately I do not have internet ...
